Case

Klokkerjordet School

The focus at Klokkerjordet School has been on integrating high-quality natural materials and exceptional interior design. The concept of "the right choice provides the right conditions" has allowed students to participate in the process of finding the best solutions.

Merging two schools

Klokkerjordet School was born from the merger of two schools in Sande, now under one roof. Creating optimal conditions for approximately 800 students and 100 staff members required making the right interior choices from the very beginning.

– Understanding the greater wear and tear from children's use, we have taken extra care to ensure the highest quality standards. Our priority has been to select products designed to endure over time, live up to their intended function, and be ergonomic. In collaboration with the school's staff and L2 Arkitekter, our goal has been to make the right choices from the start, says Norleif Vegsund, Project and Product Manager at Input Interior.

The school is designed in the shape of a clover, with a sports court and facilities for primary and secondary education in different parts of the building. In the middle, there is a large open space that functions as a cultural arena with tiered seating and an open stage.

The common room holds a central place, both symbolically and literally, allowing the majority of the school's students and educators to gather. Large windows provide generous natural lighting, and sustainable natural materials are prominent features of the interior, adds Norleif Vegsund.

Sustainable choices are evident in the school’s interior, with products primarily made of wood and metal. The colour scheme blends light wood tones with deeper shades of green and brown.

Focus on durability and ergonomics

Beyond the delivery and assembly of all furnishings, Input Interior, in consultation with the school's project group and L2 Arkitekter, has contributed innovative ideas and solutions regarding product, material, and colour choices.

– Input Interior's team has acted as a sounding board throughout the project, guiding us to select furniture of high quality and timeless design. As a project manager, I have decided to trust these solutions to be the best for both students and staff, states Ole Johan Bjørge, project manager at Holmestrand municipality.

Students have also played a role in shaping the classroom environment.

During the selection process, our staff visited Input Interior's showroom to view the furniture first-hand. Students then tested the chairs at the school. This was a crucial step in finding products that offer good ergonomics and functionality, says Ole Johan Bjørge.

The meticulous planning extends far beyond the school's interior. The schoolyard is tailored for both sports and play, offering something for children of all ages. Among other features, it includes two football fields, a large playground, and expansive areas where children can play freely.
